Like the great river that flows through Memphis, the music of Lucero keeps rolling on, twisting and turning through the years, the same dark and brooding steadiness always at work. Since forming in late the ‘90s, this group of Memphis road-dogs has mixed heartfelt lyrics with the sounds of early rock and roll, classic punk, country-folk, and deep-fried Southern soul. It’s a sound that stands on the pillars of American music, born more of feeling than technique, delivered night after night to legions of fans in dive bars and theaters, and on stages as august as Red Rocks Amphitheater and the Ryman. In short, it’s music that is built to last, impervious to trends. For their tenth studio album, When You Found Me, the band continues its natural evolution, this time tapping into a more atmospheric, widescreen vision (one that wouldn’t seem out of place on a Reagan-era FM dial) while still staying tethered to its roots. “I wanted a very classic rock sound for this album,” says songwriter and frontman Ben Nichols. “I wanted it to sound like stuff I heard on the radio growing up. I didn’t want to make a retro record at all, but I did want to reference some of those sounds and tones and moods. I think we struck a nice balance between nostalgia and something that still sounds like contemporary Lucero.”
With their ninth album, Nada Surf: Matthew Caws, Daniel Lorca, Ira Elliot, and Louie Lino continue pursuing their humanistic vision of the world through hooky, catchy rock songs with sharply drawn, yet tenderly felt lyrics. Never Not Together, is a compact, yet wide-ranging collection of songs that revel in the quartet's ability to evoke and reflect grand and intricately wrought emotions, whether through sweeping guitar solos or hushed-whisper vocals. Never Not Together was recorded at the Coach House Studio in Wales' Rockfield Studios, where artists like Echo & the Bunnymen, the Flamin' Groovies, and Dumptruck recorded albums. "I've been seeing the name on albums for so long," says Caws. "It's a working farm, and the founder/owner, Kingsley Ward, would come in and tell us stories when he wasn't farming. I'd walk into town every morning and listen to the sheep talking as I walked by them."That openness to listening to their fans, to each other, to the world has helped inform Nada Surf's legacy as down-to-earth rock stars musicians who can command festival stages around the world while connecting to audience members on a personal level, conscious of the shared humanity every step of the way.

Fastball's new album, The Help Machine, follows on the heels of the bands acclaimed 2017 release Step Into Light. The new set, on the Austin's TX trio's own 33 1/3 label, once again demonstrates the distinctive songwriting, expressive vocals and inventive melodic sensibilities of Miles Zuniga and his bandmate Tony Scalzo. With drummer, Joey Shuffield completing the longstanding lineup, the trio's time tested creative rapport is a potent as ever on such compelling tunes as Scalzo's White Collar,All Gone Fuzzy and The Girl You Pretend to Be and the Zunga compositions Friend or Foe, Holding The Devil's Hand, and the album's enigmatic title track .
The Portland Oregon band creates music of a dark, hooky, melodic flavor. Formed after Keeley Davis (At The Drive In, Sparta, Engine Down, Denali) transplanted to the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 2018 with a catalog of songs written over years of touring. Mutual friends in Portland introduced Keeley to John Sherman (Drummer for Red Fang) who immediately recommended his long time friend and talented band mate Jeremy Walsh to complete the power trio.
Angelica Garcia has released her new single "Jícama" alongside a video directed by Grant Jensen (Daft Punk, Drake, Bruno Mars), and announced select U.S. headline shows. "Jícama" and its accompanying single artwork feature Garcia donning both the U.S. & Mexican flags as an empowering call for all to proudly “Wear Your Roots” despite the current political landscape, which finds immigrants, minorities, and POC from all over the world as targets of hate and xenophobia.
